FOS|LTC Weekly News

Let’s start with the good news.

How fabulous it was to see the sun shining, the car park full, the bar and pool buzzing, and some truly impressive tennis from the UK’s potential future stars. Days like these remind us what a special place our Club is. A huge well done to all our staff who worked tirelessly throughout the week to make it happen.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see the Club this vibrant every day!!!!

You will all have received details about how we intend to finance the padel courts and wider sports facility upgrades. This is a real opportunity to support the Club’s future and receive more than just our thanks in return.

On the sporting front, we had over 90 registrations for the Tennis Club Championships. We will be making the draws in the next couple of days, so let the tennis begin. League matches are also in full swing, and you can find next week’s fixtures below.

We also welcomed local photographer Claire, who has helped capture up-to-date images of the club! We look forward to sharing these in due course.

Sadly, we do need to end on a disappointing note. Someone graffitied the ladies’ toilets this week. We can’t point fingers, but we hope whoever was responsible feels a sense of shame reading this. Our staff and volunteers work incredibly hard to maintain the Club, and while we know there is plenty still to upgrade, repairing avoidable damage only adds unnecessary cost and takes time and resources away from improvements we all want to see.

Sports and Services!

Padel Update

Earlier this week, we sent a communication to all members about the Club’s Development Project and investment opportunity. If you did not receive it, please contact kim@fosltc.com.

We are pleased to have already received a number of Expression of Interest forms and hope that even more members will support this exciting project and help secure the club’s future.

Ladies Toilets

Unfortunately, this week, the newly painted ladies’ toilets were vandalised. While we have been unable to determine exactly when the damage occurred, we kindly ask all parents and guardians to ensure children are supervised at all times while at the club. This type of behaviour is unacceptable and not tolerated at the  Club. Sadly, the time and effort generously given by volunteers will now need to be repeated to repair the damage.

Court Padlocks

As mentioned a couple of weeks ago, we will be introducing combination padlocks on our hard and bubble courts. This has been implemented to prevent unauthorised use of the courts and to ensure that all courts are booked before being used. The new system comes into effect from Monday, 1st June. When you book a court, the access code will be included in your booking confirmation and will also be available from the office.

Guest Passes

This past week, we have been issuing guest passes to all eligible members as part of our yearly benefit scheme. As mentioned previously, these have been sent digitally in the form of a QR Code. Firstly, if you did not receive an email but think you are eligible, please email rebecca@fosltc.com. Secondly, please do not test these QR codes yourself! All scans are recorded, so if you scan as a test, 1 guest pass is lost. The instructions on how to use your guest passes are in your email. If you have any queries, please email rebecca@fosltc.com.
