FOS|LTC Weekly News
As we move into a busy and exciting period for the Club, there is plenty to update you on (and some reminders/prompting) across our sporting, social and community activities.
Firstly, to answer a number of questions posed by members, the Board is arranging an evening session for those who would like further clarity before submitting an Expression of Interest.
A gentle reminder to parents that juniors remain your responsibility while on Club premises. We love seeing them out on the tennis courts, but please ensure they are wearing appropriate footwear. Flip‑flops and slides belong by the pool, not on court.
Next week, we are delighted to be hosting the LTA British Tour, offering another excellent opportunity to watch high‑level tennis on home turf. Grass court availability will be limited, so please remember that court bookings are essential.
On Tuesday, 23 June, we welcome students from Market Field College for a multi‑sport festival. The morning will feature squash, tennis and pickleball, followed by an afternoon tournament across all three sports. We are seeking volunteers to support the morning session (10.30–12.30 pm), the afternoon session (1–3.30 pm), or both.
Looking slightly further ahead, important dates for your diaries, from 6–9 August, we will be hosting our inaugural Tennis Week. The programme includes Juniors Day on Thursday, the Chairman’s Challenge on Friday, the Sponsors Cup on Saturday, and a Family Day to round off the week on Sunday. Expect a vibrant mix of competition, social events, lunches, dinners, a gala ball, and activities for all ages. More details to follow soon.
It is wonderful to see our juniors and adults excelling across the sports we offer. Congratulations to Frederick Greda on his recent tennis success, and to our Croquet representatives for winning their opening league match.
Finally, we want to acknowledge the tremendous work of Jerry Howe, whose efforts have significantly strengthened the sense of community between Frinton’s three main sports clubs. The upcoming triangular tournament is an excellent opportunity to build on that spirit. We encourage all members to support the initiative by signing up for the events listed below.

Project Financing Update
Over the past two weeks, we have invited members to submit Expressions of Interest regarding the financing of the padel courts and associated projects. A number of members have told us they are interested but would like the opportunity to ask questions before submitting an EOI.
To support this, the Board will be hosting an evening session for members who would like to understand more about the project at this stage. This will focus on the key questions that are relevant before completing an Expression of Interest, with fuller details to follow in the formal Loan Note Offer.
To allow time for this session, we are extending the EOI deadline. If you are considering participating, we encourage you to attend, as it will help ensure everyone has the same information and clarity before the next step of the process.
Details of the date and time will follow shortly.
FOSLTC Club Championships 2026
The first match has already been played in this year's competition. Well done to Katy Greeno and Rich Williams, who beat David Binns & Julie Hamlet 6:4, 4:6, 7:5. They progress through to the Semi-Finals in the Mixed Open Doubles. Those with matches to play by 21st June, please organise and book your court! And remember to report your scores after!
Colchester and District 2026 League
Last Friday, the weather held, and our 2 home matches were played. Congratulations to both our Ladies C and Men’s C who both won their matches 6-3!
On Monday, our Men’s D were due to be away at Mersea Island. Unfortunately, they couldn’t quite hold on and FOSLTC lost 9-0.
Tuesday night, our Mixed D were away at Spring Lane. The score was 7-2 to Spring Lane.
Unfortunately, our Ladies B scheduled for Wednesday was called off due to rain.
And the 2 matches due for last night were also called off due to rain!
And tonight, we’re hoping our Mixed C are at home hosting Lexden R&F Club!
Next week, we don’t host any home matches due to the British Tour Tournament, however, there are 2 away matches:
Thursday 18th June – Mens A are away to David Lloyd Club A
Friday 19th June – Ladies B are away to Spring Lane A
LTA British Tour – Monday 15th June – Saturday 20th June
Next week, we host our 2nd external tournament of the summer!
The Lexus British Tour is a tennis circuit for professional players wanting to compete on home soil. Young stars with ambitions of going pro in the future, and national level players who still compete at a high level – in other words, the very best of British tennis.
This year, we'll be hosting both Singles and Doubles events for the first time!
Spectators Welcome, poolside kitchen will be open every day from 12noon!
Young Talent excels!
NEETacademy player and FOS|LTC member Frederick Greda has built on his solid commitment to playing LTA junior tournaments across the region with a win in the U11’s event at Legends Tennis Centre, Hertfordshire, on Saturday. Congrats to Frederick and his parents for their continued commitment. Coach Pete is very proud of the continued efforts.
Croquet come out on top!
On Sunday, 4th May, our Croquet members headed up to Colchester for their first match in the Essex & Suffolk League. They came away with a fabulous win, placing themselves at the top of the league!
Great result and good luck for the rest of the season.
Team: Richard Everett, Bruce Freeman, Gary Brice, Fiona McCoig
Ladies Toilets
A couple of weeks back, you may remember us reporting Graffiti in the ladies' toilets. Unfortuantely more appeared over the weekend… However, a big thankyou to Graham for sanding and repainting this week, ready for the upcoming weekend. We ask parents to please keep an eye on children and to members, if you see anything unusual, please report to the office or the bar.
Frinton Triangle Tournament 2026
It’s not long to go now until the start of this year's tournament! It kicks off at the club on Sunday, 28th June, with Tennis and Croquet. The sign-up sheet is on the tennis board. We then head to the cricket club on 5th July and golf on 26th July. Please sign up for any of the events, but remember, you can only represent one club!
A big thank you to this year’s sponsors: Stabilised Pavements Limited, Greensward Financial Planning & Anglian Vehicle Lining to bring this event together!
Sponsorship
There are opportunities in numerous areas of our club, including the Car Park boards, Court 1 fence or our squash courts for new sponsors! If you are interested or know someone who might be, please contact rebecca@fosltc.com for more information.
FIFA World Cup 2026
The World Cup kicked off last night with a brilliant game between Mexico and South Africa (2 Goals and 3 yellow cards!). We will be showing as many games as we can in the bar, and of course, prioritising England games too. There is a board in the club with matches on, or please speak to the bar!
