There is a wonderful energy and vibe around the Club at the moment. Possibly because we are still riding the high of Tennis Week, and the continued sunshine isn’t hurting either. Our 75th Frinton Open Tennis tournament has been in full swing, drawing great crowds and fabulous tennis, while our own Club Championships move into the semi‑finals with some genuinely intriguing match‑ups ahead.
As the C&D season approaches its close, we are delighted to once again be hosting the individual tournament finals on Saturday 29 August. The following week brings the Club Championship finals, so there is plenty more tennis to enjoy before summer begins to wind down.
Our juniors are equally busy, with the Triangle Tournament this weekend, tennis camps in full flow and August finishing off with a squash camp. If you haven’t already, make the most of this glorious weather and get involved.
And a special congratulations to our croquet section, celebrating six years of achievement and now heading towards their Club Championship finals in just two weeks’ time. This is a fantastic milestone for a growing part of our Club community.

Our deadline for all semi-final matches is Sunday 23rd August. Please organise, and if you need any players' contact details, please contact the office! To view the up-to-date results and tables, please view HERE.
Finals day is on Saturday 5th September; please note the date in your diaries and come down and support fellow members!
75th Frinton Open 2026!
This week we’ve seen some fabulous tennis at the Frinton Open. Well done to all Frinton players who participated. There are finals tomorrow from 10 am. Please do come down, watch and support.
Colchester & District League
On Tuesday our Men’s C went to The Essex hoping to secure a victory and be in with a chance of promotion. Unfortunately, they were up against a young team and lost 4-5.
And on Wednesday, our Mens D were at David Lloyd. The score was 0-9.
Tonight, our Ladies A are in action at home to Spring Lane A. Good Luck!
Next week;
Tuesday 18th August – Mixed D are at home to Spring Lane C
Wednesday 19th August – Mixed A are away to The Essex A
Thursday 20th August – Mixed C are at home to Little Clacton A
The last game is then on Tuesday 25th August, Ladies B are away to the Essex A.
The finals for the Colchester and District League are at the club on Saturday 29th August.
Junior Triangle Tournament 2026
This Sunday sees the first Junior Triangle Tournament. Good luck to all competitors! They start at Frinton Links at 9am. Then head to the Tennis Club, and finally finishing at the Cricket Club.

Junior Squash Camp
Get ready for a fun-filled morning of squash! Join us on Friday 28th August for our Junior Squash Camp, designed to help young players develop new skills, build confidence and enjoy the game. All equipment is provided!
The session is 9.30am - 12pm, £19 Members, £25 Non-members

Croquet Celebrates Six Fantastic Years at FOSLTC
Last Saturday, 1st August, croquet members came together to celebrate six years since croquet was successfully reintroduced to FOSLTC. The day had a wonderful vintage theme, paying tribute to the club’s rich croquet history dating back to 1910, with members embracing the occasion in true period style.
There was even more reason to celebrate as we officially opened our brand new croquet lawn. The additional lawn is a very welcome and much-needed addition, reflecting the incredible growth of our croquet section. Over the past year alone, membership has more than doubled, and it’s fantastic to see so many new faces enjoying the game alongside our established members.
The day was a wonderful celebration of how far croquet has come at FOSLTC in just six years. With a thriving and friendly membership, excellent facilities, and plenty of enthusiasm both on and off the lawns, the future of croquet at the club looks brighter than ever.
Looking ahead, on Saturday 29th August, the spotlight will turn to the Croquet Club Championship Finals Day, where this season’s champions will be proudly crowned. It promises to be a fantastic day of competitive play and a great way to round off an exciting season.

Spanish Wine Evening
Our President is hosting ‘A Celebration of Spain’ at 6.30 pm on Friday 6th November, a light-hearted commentary about the wine, food, travel and culture of Spain.
The quality of winemaking has significantly improved in recent years, and a variety of high-quality wines featuring familiar and lesser-known grapes will be served throughout the evening.
Our new resident chef will have the opportunity to showcase his talents with complimentary dishes from different regions, in consultation with Carmen Griffiths, a former resident of Madrid.
Tables of 10 will be available to book as a group, or individually at a cost of £79 Members (£85 non-members).

Croquet
Croquet are playing Brentwood this Sunday for a League match. Spectators welcome with play from 10 am. Good luck to Fiona, Gary and Bruce!
Wedding & Events Open Day
We open our doors once again to showcase our ballroom on Saturday 19th September, 11am – 2pm. Rebecca will be here to help talk you through your plans, pus we’ll have our recommended suppliers on hand to help discuss any details.
