A big thank you to Jack Bruce for organising and coordinating our first junior triangular tournament, and to all the members and staff who helped make it happen. There’s plenty more junior activity to get involved with as we move through the summer.
Well done to Julie Hamlet for delivering another successful ladies’ tournament. A great effort once again.
Congratulations to our croquet team on a hard‑fought draw, and to all our tennis teams for their performances this season. As you’ll see below, our Mixed A team secured the league this week, another fantastic achievement for the Club.

FOSLTC Club Championships 2026
Our deadline for all semi-final matches is Sunday 23rd August. Most of our Final games have now been decided; however, there are a couple more still to contest! Please organise, and if you need any players' contact details, please contact the office! To view the up-to-date results and tables, please view HERE.
Finals day is on Saturday 5th September; please note the date in your diaries and come down and support fellow members!
Colchester & District League
Tuesday 18th August – Mixed D were at home to Spring Lane C and unfortunately lost 5.5 – 3.5.
Wednesday 19th August – Mixed A were away to The Essex A and won 6-3. Which means they have won the League!! Congratulations to all players who participated in the various matches over the past couple of months to secure top of the table.
Thursday 20th August – Mixed C were at home to Little Clacton A last night and unfortunately lost 6-3.
Finals for Colchester and District individuals are at the club on Saturday 29th August.
Junior Triangle Tournament 2026
On Sunday, our three clubs went head-to-head once again in the Junior Triangle Tournament!
The day began at the Golf Club, where the juniors took part in a variety of activities before heading to the Tennis Club for a well-deserved lunch. The final stage then took them to the Cricket Club, where the champions were crowned!
A huge congratulations to Team Cricket Club, who were victorious and claimed the title of 2026 Junior Triangle Tournament Champions!
Well done to all of the juniors who took part in this fantastic inaugural event. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, trying new activities and representing their clubs.
A special thank you to Gerry Howe and everyone at Stabilised Pavements Limited for giving our juniors the incredible opportunity to take part in such a memorable day.
Ladies Grass Court Tournament
On Tuesday, 10 Ladies pairs battled it out in our annual Grass Court Tournament. Although they managed to start on the grass, the weather turned, and they ended up on the hard courts. The eventual winners were Sharon & Anne from Wickham Bishops, who won a championship tiebreak against Sue & Christina 11-9! Well done to all players who entered!

Junior Swimming
Due to a lifeguarding issue, there will be no junior swimming on Thursday 27th & Monday 31st August. Therefore, adult swimming will be available during these times.
Junior Squash Camp
Get ready for a fun-filled morning of squash! Join us on Friday 28th August for our Junior Squash Camp, designed to help young players develop new skills, build confidence and enjoy the game. All equipment is provided!
The session is 9.30am - 12pm, £19 Members, £25 Non-members

Junior Fun Tennis Tournament
Join us on Friday 28th August, 1pm – 3.30pm for a fun holiday tournament on our grass courts! All categories (Red, Orange, Green, Yellow) are welcome! A great opportunity to enjoy match play, meet other players and experience playing on grass courts. There will be plenty of matches, a fun atmosphere and prizes for each category!
£9.50 members, £14.50 non-member.

Croquet League Matches
On Sunday, our Croquet team were in action in their league match against Brentwood. Both teams are currently unbeaten, and after some hard matches, the end result was a 2-2 draw!
Well done to FOSLTC players, Fiona McCoig, Gary Brice, Bruce Freeman.
Croquet will now head to Colchester Centenary Celebration on Tuesday 25th August followed by their Club Finals on Saturday 29th August.
Upcoming Events
Spanish Wine Evening
Our President is hosting ‘A Celebration of Spain’ at 6.30 pm on Friday 6th November, a light-hearted commentary about the wine, food, travel and culture of Spain.
The quality of winemaking has significantly improved in recent years, and a variety of high-quality wines featuring familiar and lesser-known grapes will be served throughout the evening.
Our new resident chef will have the opportunity to showcase his talents with complimentary dishes from different regions, in consultation with Carmen Griffiths, a former resident of Madrid.
Tables of 10 will be available to book as a group, or individually at a cost of £79 Members (£85 non-members).

Wedding & Events Open Day
We open our doors once again to showcase our ballroom on Saturday 19th September, 11 am – 2 pm. Rebecca will be here to help talk you through your plans, plus we’ll have our recommended suppliers on hand to help discuss any details.
