FOS|LTC Weekly News

Even though summer is drawing to a close, there is still a lively buzz around the Club at the moment. James is back tonight with more than 50 quizzers warming up their brains, and soon we will be whisking you off (figuratively, sadly) to Germany and Spain for our very own OktoberFOSt and President’s Evening.  There’s still time to enter the quiz; otherwise, for OktoberFOSt it’s buchen Sie jetzt Ihren Tisch, and for President’s Evening it’s reserva tu mesa ahora. Two events, two languages, one very helpful Google Translate.

Next week we reach an important milestone in our facilities upgrade. Courts C and D will close permanently for tennis from Tuesday afternoon as we prepare for work to begin on the new padel and pickleball courts. We are doing our best to minimise disruption on Courts E–H, but these will also need to close temporarily over the coming weeks for refurbishment. We will give you as much notice as possible, but thank you in advance for your patience as we invest in improvements that will benefit everyone.

We had hoped to begin installation while the grass courts were still open, but we needed final clarification from the Council before starting work. Now that we have it, the project is moving forward.

If you have been down to the Club recently, you will have seen Steve and Andy working with the team from Cromer to renovate the courts for the 2027 season and prepare the croquet lawns for winter. It’s a long, detailed process to get the surfaces into such good condition, and we want to thank them both for their hard work throughout the summer.

Despite the various closures, there is still plenty of racquet action. Alan and Pete have a full programme of squash and tennis here at FOSLTC, and you will find the links below. Please also take a look at the updated tennis and pickleball schedule. There is plenty to choose from and get involved.
